Project Update #12: Final weekend to change your address!
Posted by Michael Mindes ♥ Like
On Friday, we received the status update from our shipping company that all the games arrived in Oakland on Thursday. They were available for pick-up on Friday, but they may not be picked up until Tuesday (The Oakland Harbor is closed on Monday).
In the spirit of transparency, this is the exact message we got:
Pilot Pro#56576145/ Ocean Freight / 1x20' - Clearfield, UT Vessel arrived yesterday in Oakland. The container became available this morning at the terminal. There is no ETD currently from Oakland. Terminals are closed on Monday 7/28. Once it departs Oakland, it is an estimated 4 -5 days on the rail to SLC. As soon as the ETD is available, we will advise an update.
Below is the shipping status graphic that I shared with you in June. We could be on schedule if the games made the train on Friday or a few days behind if they didn't make that train. Either way, everything is due to go out in early August—making things about 5-6 weeks past the original estimated delivery.
What does this mean?
Remember when I said there would be one final chance to change your address? That opportunity is now, this weekend ... or Monday at the latest. You must update your change of address as soon as possible.
To do this, send us a message via the "Contact me" button here on the Kickstarter home page. When you send a message to us about an address change, please include all the games that address may impact (e.g. Dungeon Roll - Winter Heroes, Coin Age, Templar Intrigue, Burgoo, and This Town Ain't Big Enough for the 2-4 of US). We don't want to update your address in one place and not in another—because we are bundling the shipments across projects by backer.
If you are moving during August—as is common—choose a safe address where mail can arrive between August 4th - August 18th for US domestic addresses. It is much harder for us to have a range for non-US addresses of course, but have an address where the game or games can arrive during the month of August or early September if post is slower in your country. (Note: more on non-US backers in a moment, hang tight...)
On Monday and Tuesday we will go through all the messages we get sent to the "Contact me" button here on Kickstarter and will manually put them into the system. When your address gets updated, you will get a short reply that says "address updated." I'm sorry to say that we won't have time to engage you personally in any depth on Monday and Tuesday, because there are a lot of addresses that have changed in the last month or so for almost 30,000 total backers across all the different projects.
Also, there will be no add-ons for this fulfillment cycle. We are working on finally updating our website and these games will be only sold there and from us directly at conventions because they are not packaged for retail sales.
What about us Non-US backers?
One of the reasons we choose this fulfillment partner here in Utah right down the street from my apartment was because of the flexibility they were willing to show. All packages for US and non-European customers will be bundled together as one package. All packages for international customers in Europe will be shipped in $15 bundles. This is as "EU-friendly" as we can be at this point and we are working on establishing a long-term solution for the future as we speak.
That means if you live in Europe and ordered a large amount of our small games across the various 'Pay What You Want' campaigns that we did this last year, they will be bundled in packages declared at no more than $15. This costs us a little more because we pay a fee per package, but those of you who ordered thoughtfully around the VAT considerations for your country should still be in good shape. You didn't know everything would be bundled when you ordered and neither did we. This solution makes sense to us.
Our fulfillment partner is also working with us to provide itemized declaration amounts for the exact games in the package based on each individual game's replacement cost. Spreadsheets and computers are wonderful! So this should help us keep all the declared costs down in general for every international backer.
After our meeting on Tuesday where we hammered all this out, I was very pleased. That said, there is one drawback to how we will be sending everything to all international customers. The individual packages will not be trackable, because they are being delivered as a single bulk package to your country. This is important to note and means we will have to set a "if not received by date" to trigger your contacting us with a concern.
What do I do now?
Update your address ASAP with a "Contact me" Kickstarter message
Hang tight if you already sent a new address after those locked
Await the next update for specifics on fulfillment as packages start going out
Start practicing your best cowboy accent (Little boy tries to learn how to walk and talk like a cowboy)
.
YeeeHaaaw!!!
