I originally pictured magic as a game where every card broke the rules, and hand in hand with that would be a game with a wide breadth of artistic styles. To have a restrictive artist guideline and a limited set of artists flies into the face of the premise of the game. Early on I requested that the art be art that evoked great likes and dislikes, rather than neutral or slightly positive reviews. Hence we had art that was water color and acrylic, abstract and realistic, straightforward and stylized. My initial approach was to give the artists as large a latitude as possible. After all, the artists were in the creative business too! In time more instruction has been given, because we don't really want every one of our goblins to look like a different species. It has become a balancing act of giving the artist room to maneuver while painting a consistent world.
Living Wall. Which was censored. You knew that, didn't you?No. What happened to it?There was an esophagus which they thought looked too much like it could be a sphincter in another part of the body. That was the only one that got censored.
